Some NPP delegates fix street lights in their community

Image
Maaconewsupdate   In this 21st century, anybody or persons bestowed with political power to lead a group of people despite their political background or differences are to champion the development needs of their people. This and many other aspirations were on the top lists of the current Npp polling station executives in Yaw Nkrumah within the Juaben constituency in Ashanti region who put themselves up for npp polling station executives contest and election in March 5, this year. Upon their election, they have been in office for close to 4 months and have already started undertaking some development works in their community. Among some of the pressing needs of their community that needed urgent solution was street lightening problem. It was observed that most areas in the community did not have light and darkness engulfed there during the night. Therefore, the delegates, namely Bismark Acheampong (chairman), Nicholas Adomako Adjei (secretary), Clement Akosa (organizer) and Martin A...

The recent post by a leading government official in the person of Gabby Otchere-Darko in his Twitter handle on government inability to accumulate the estimated revenues from e-levy since its inception and introduction in May 1, this year. Some called for review while others also called for cancellation of the levy. Maaconewsupdate has confidently say that these and many more will be some of the areas that the government want to look at as far as the e-levy review is concerned. First and foremost, Government and Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) will consider taxing merchant account of mobile money agents. Also a consideration will be placed on taxing deposits mobile money users put in their personal wallet and finally, taxing withdrawal...

Latest Update on Arise Ghana demonstration:Lawyers threaten to sue police administration

Image
Maaconewsupdate   A new update from the Arise Ghana "Krom Aye Hye" Demonstration indicates that, the lawyers of the 29 demonstrators who were apprehended by the police on Tuesday (June 28) when they clashed with the police service have threatened to sue the police administration led by Inspector General of Police (IGP), Akuffo Dampare.  The reason out by the lawyers led by lawyer Abraham Amaliba is that, if the police continues to keep their clients in their custody for more than 48 hours, it will be a breach on their constitutional rights since the constitution does not permit suspects to be in police custody for more than that period either than arranging them before court. So invariably the lawyers of the 29 arrested protesters in the Arise Ghana demonstration on Tuesday are demanding bail for their clients. Right now the police administration is quite  and have not responded to the issue. Maaconewsupdate will keep updating the public when necessary. It must be stated ...

Arise Ghana demonstration turns bloody: 12 officers and some civilians injured!

Image
Maaconewsupdate  Today, a group of disgruntled Ghanaians   called ''Arise Ghana Demonstrators'' hit the capital of Ghana, Accra, to demonstrate against the government on the hardship in the country. The initial plans of the demonstration was to be peaceful but in the course of it turned voilent and bloody. The purpose of the demonstration was for government to address seemingly insecurities in the country, bad economy, hardship, high food prices, increase in fuel prices, corruption etc. The Demonstrators have some of the following inscriptions on their placards; (i.) Tell the president: we are suffering in the land of our birth? (ii.) Ghana beyond aid, scam! (iii.) Inflation is too high, why? (iv.) Agyabone not Agyapa. You have been exposed, Nana Akuffo Addo (v.) Taxation to production. E-levy is production. I guess. Scam! etc. Before the demonstration, the IGP Akuffo Dampare admonished police officers to be professional in handling the Demonstrators. Mtn FA cup final match ; Augustine Okra apologizes for his misconduct

Image
Maaconewsupdate Bechem United winger Augustine Okrah has rendered an unqualified apology for the headbutting incident that saw him been shown a red and a sent off in the MTN FA Cup final between Bechem United and Hearts of Oak on Sunday 26th June 2022 at Baba Yaara sports stadium in Kumasi. An unpardonable conduct by Okrah in the second half of the match resulted in his dismissal from the pitch. This was as a result of a throw-in that went against him instead of it being in his favor, and the speedster lost his temper and headbutted the linesman.  Even though at time of the incident, Bechem were down by 2-1, yet the former Asante Kotoko player, who had been playing well before to the incident, lost his cool and headbutted Balanguena after becoming dissatisfied about the decision. As a professional player, his actions have been severely criticized by all football loving fans across board and thus Bechem United talisman, Augustine Okrah has done the needful by coming out to is...

Nabco program; 8 months no pay, is it a success or failure?

Image
Maaconewsupdate  Nation Builders Corp (Nabco) was introduced by Npp government in November 2018 aimed to give skills and working experience to graduate for future permanent employment and reduce graduate unemployment in the country. The government paid them Ghc700 as a monthly stipend or allowances. When the program ended after 3 years of implementation on October 2021, the government asked the Nabco Trainees to stay at post but have not paid them for sometimes now. The Nabco Trainees Association of Ghana (NABTAG) are therefore crying for their 8 months unpaid allowances and are threatening government not to start the launch of YOU START(entrepreneurship program) if government does not pay them. According to them, the operational mechanism of the scheme, as long as acquisition of job readiness skills and experience are concerned, objectively qualifies them to commend government for envisioning the initiative. However, the prevailing circumstances pertaining trainees' welfare do not...

E-levy, barely 2 months of implementation, is it a blessing or a curse in Ghana?

Image
Maaconewsupdat e After 5 months of stalemate and bashing the E-levy, after implementation, is delivering only 10% of estimated revenues; our revenues remain very low as compared to the rest of the world; debt levels dangerously high, cedi like most currencies, struggling against the UD dollar..."- Gabby Otchere-Darko  After this post on his Twitter platform, some Ghanaians had this to say responding to the question he posed; what options are open to government?  The question should rather be: what option, if adopted, will re-inject investor confidence in our economy? Even if we find the $ 3-5 billion required, will that that? E-levy which was to have given us some 600m Ghana cedis by now has done less than 60m cedis. Maaconewsupdate is of the view that, as a government, sometimes it has to listen to the citizens before implementing a certain policy. It was obvious that, majority of Ghanaians were not in support of the passage of the E-levy as well as the minority group in parl...

CORPSE RUN OUT OF COFFIN

maaconewsupdate   Wonders they say shall never. Hearing no fresh news each day is abomination. A corpse laid-in-state in a town called Yaw Nkrumah near Juaben in Ashanti region of Ghana on June 18th 2022 was radically removed and dragged on the ground by 4 to 10 aggrieved pallbearers. Burial "processionists / onlookers" were astonished upon sighting that bizarre action by the pallbearers. The coffin was broken down completely and the body was left to be laid upon the coffin cover to the grave yard for burial. As if that was not enough, the grave that was dug for burying him was eventually close with sand by some aggrieved youths and some elderly people had to beg them for them to remove the sand from the grave for final  burial. What was so surprising to me was the fact that there were about 10 to 15 police officers who were brought there by a family member of the deceased to ensure peaceful burial but all to no avail. So maaconewsupdate took time find out what might have...
