Communication minister blames NDC for some Ghanaians not registering for Ghana Card
Communication and Digitization minister, Ursula Owusu Elkuful who doubles as member of parliament for Ablekuma west constituency in Accra, has said on peace fm yesterday on Kwame Sefa Okai's morning show that, she blames NDC partly for some Ghanaians not registering for Ghana Card when it took off in 2019 and waiting for the last minute to register to put pressure of National Identification Authority (NIA).
When quizzes by the host, Kwame Sefa Okai on the sustainability of the new deadline (September 30th) for Sim card re-registration exercise, she said, part of the blame for why up till now most Ghanaians do not have Ghana Card to link with their sim card can be out on the doorstep of the opposition NDC since right from the start of Ghana Card registration exercise in 2019, the NDC instigated some Ghanaians not to register.
However, the minister believes that by the end of the September 30th deadline, a huge number if Ghanaians would have registered and gotten their Ghana Card to link with their sim card. She said the ministry will introduce an app that people can download on their phones to personally link their Ghana Card with their sim card at cost of 5ghc.
Maaconewsupdate checks on NIA offices and sim network centres across the country indicate low turn out of people registering for Ghana Card and linking their sim cards respectively. Does it mean some people are still waiting till nearing the deadline before mad rush for registration again?
